Katy Perry gets 65,000 Facebook Likes for changing her Facebook picture, so she probably won't be impressed by this - but we thought an album we featured on our blog last month did really well! It got 251 Facebook Likes (and counting), 18 pins, a couple of tweets and a few comments. Our record is 599 Facebook Likes, set last year by a popular kiwi radio jock's wedding album - he posted about it on his own page, causing a nice little uptick in our google analytics. But Katy Perry and Vaughan Smith are "celebrities" with big audiences, and Nichola and Sunhong aren't. So why did their album (and their photographers) get so much attention? All David and Naomi from Sheer Image Photography did was to share the link from our Facebook page on their own page, and things caught on from there! You could understand if David and Naomi didn't even notice the response. They got a handful of likes on their Facebook page, and we only got 29 on ours - but we could see hundreds of click-throughs on bit.ly. So most of the Likes came directly or indirectly from the bride and groom. People clicked through to see Nicola and Sunhong, but they saw David and Naomi's photography along the way, and our albums. Everybody's happy! Imagine those 250+ people turned up in person at your studio to take a look at your work - because that's what's going on here. Family and friends sharing something they're really interested in. It would have taken David and Naomi maybe half a minute to share our post, and in terms of social media, SEO and recognition it was certainly worth it! But don't wait for your album to be picked our blog. You can publish all your imagery and albums on your own Workspace website, share it with your customers and generate your own foot traffic. Or rather let your customers do it for you! Just don't forget to share! Uploading the images is just the start. They're there to be shared. Workspace is like a car. It's very powerful, but if you want to get anywhere you need to drive it.
