Rebecca & Gary were married at St. Peter's church, East Drayton in Lincolnshire followed by a marquee reception on the bride's parents farm. They were photographed by Simon Mark Whitten of Firehorse Photography. This wedding was a 'classic English' summer wedding (picturesque country church, marquee, vintage Jaguar car, blue skies and sunshine) with a real outdoor feel and flavour with some stunning and delicate design touches by the bride herself. Rebecca imported the flowers in from the Netherlands and made pretty much all of the flower arrangement and 'vintage' detailing herself, with some To View More >>

Why not design your albums in Photoshop or InDesign? A lot of people do, and they're great applications – we depend on them both ourselves. A few thoughts … Adobe don't think designing your albums in Photoshop is a good idea. That's not what it's for. Adobe's page layout software is InDesign. So how much does InDesign know about wedding and portrait photographers, their workflow, their albums and their suppliers? Heading back to where they first met, Stephanie and Adam married in the hilly pastures of rural Berkshires, just west of Massachusetts. Their naturally beautiful day was captured by Danielle Zielinski . They chose a remote farm as the perfect venue and married on a grassy knoll under a cherry tree; then shared drinks on the lawn, and celebrated at their reception in the barn. Danielle’s brief was to capture the natural, unstructured beauty of the day – and it was this style that inspired the design of the album, and presentation of the photographs. A Rimu timber cover set the natural tone To View More >>

I've gathered enough gongs now to qualify for an opinion on album design. Last week I was a judge for the Australian Professional Photography Awards at PMA in Melbourne. This was an honour I shared with the lovely Jo Grams, Jerry Ghionis, Jackie Chan, Yervant and other luminaries. Several things became apparent: 1) Some authors treated the album as a set of individual prints, mixing black and whites with colours, verticals with horizontals, with blatant disregard for the influence of those images on each other. 2) Some authors were hypnotised by the ability to apply a filter to create a look ...
