I have read so many photographer interviews that started out, "I was given my first camera when I was ten". Hands up those who can say that? Certainly I can. I was given a beaten up old Yashica by my father for my tenth birthday. Pity it isn't that easy these days because, let's face it, when film was king an image taken on a 50 year old twin reflex could still create a beautiful neg. So why did we start taking photos? I bet it wasn't for money. It was the love of capturing the image. This is where every photographer starts leaving the crowd behind. The passion and the excitement of taking the To View More >>

Nathalie & Emmanuel were married earlier this year at Dune du pyla in Arcachon, France. They were photographed by David Cardoso of Davidone Photography. Nathalie's dress was made by French couturier Laurent Kapelski. They also had a very cool 'day after' shoot where they could really relax and have fun with a little "trash the dress" style! Take a look at a few layouts from their Duo Pagemount 10x10 album. David also teamed up with Dolly Production to create a really beautiful film of this album. Take a look at the video below. Three things are certain: 1. Our world is changing, and we have to change with To View More >>

The Junction has been a bit quiet lately so I thought I would talk to you about what the developers have been brewing. I have a lot of fruit trees at my place but two of my favorites are a Peachcot and a Peacharine. These are cross pollinations between a peach and an apricot and a peach and a nectarine. Individually beautiful to eat, but when you blend the two together you get something special. The guys at Queensberry and Photojunction have been doing a bit of cross pollinating of their own. Press albums are the new kid on the block for us. Taking two products, both beautiful in their own right, To View More >>

My two children are getting married, and In Part 1 I talked about how my eyes have been opened by the experience. What would my kids get if they hired a "professional photographer” for $3500.00 or so? Generally the photographer's time on the day, a DVD, no post work, often from someone who doesn't know how to give a "wedding day experience" on top of everything else. $3500 feels like too much money for that, but as I pointed out, the wholesale costs involved are too high to expect much more. Prices like that encourage couples to go shopping with unrealistically low budgets for photography … To View More >>
