Albums are a blank canvas on which to express your personal style and taste, and we love seeing the variety that comes through the Bindery. This week's album caught our attention with its brightly coloured graffiti backgrounds and interesting design. When we asked Daniel if we could feature it, he shared with us the humorous, heartwarming story of how the couple first met – as told by them, from both sides.
Talk about a meet-cute!
It reminded us of something important — "It's not about the album, it's about the photography." … But dig deeper and it's not about the photographs either, it's about the story they tell. This album tells the story well.

Vy's version of events:
"My dear friend of 30-something years, Jennifer, took me to her friend's Pyjama Birthday Party when I was in Perth. Not a sexy PJ party. It was freezing in Perth, so it was pretty much a flannelette Pyjama Party.
"I bought a bottle of Bacardi to the party. Maybe it contained some magic... Jen introduced us - and I think we fancied each other from that moment."

"[Another party guest] insisted on going clubbing after the party. So Metros (a well-known Perth nightclub) was a contributing factor - Si & I danced all night. Even though he didn't do any break-dancing (that would have sealed the deal!) - he danced ok.
"My visit to Perth was short and sweet... it was really for my Grandma's birthday. The only time we could meet before I went back to Brisbane was if he picked me up early for my flight and dropped me off at the airport. Because a lot of the family travelled to Perth for my Grandma's birthday, when Si came to pick me up, my whole family was peering behind the doors, windows, curtains wondering who this guy was. Eventually, he came in and met them all - technically on our first date - brave man.
"We did long distance for a while, I moved to Perth. And here we are today - together for nearly 7 years, we have a fur-son called Rufus, we're living in Melbourne and getting married!"

Simons side (in
"On a frosty June evening, Simon and his merry band of people gathered for the celebration of Aaron Barnes' 30th birthday “Pyjama Jam”. It was quite an evening of merriment and the lady Jen Huynh had performed the age-old introduction right of Vy to Simon through use of the words “Gonky this is Vy. She likes to party have fun!” From there, Vy and I gathered food and beverages and discussed the ins and outs of life.
"What seems to be a few mere moments transcended into a few hours with the gathering splitting from the enjoyment of the festivities to the Perth custom of an evening at the famed “Metros”."

"Within the walls of Metros, the dance of love was danced and further merriment was had. Towards the end of the evening, Vy had advised Simon that
"Upon arrival, Vy did not mention that the entire Huynh clan was at her aunties' and thus Simon was greeted at the door by 4 aunties and uncles all ready to ask the important questions. Vy’s Grandma and Grandpa were quite happy to meet Simon as he was big and liked to eat!"

"Following the tearful goodbye at the airport, Simon and Vy kept a long distance communication for a few weeks that lead to Simon booking an impromptu visit to Queensland to surprise Vy. It was from this weekend that they both committed to the relationship and their adventure together began."
