2012 has been a busy year for us and we’ve been listening to your feedback along the way.
We’ve made some big and exciting changes to our album categories that will simplify and streamline our products and make working with us as simple as possible.
Visit our website to explore the updated product pages for yourself, and read on for an overview of our updated categories, some pretty tasty price reductions, and a few other goodies we think you’ll like.
Changes to album categories:
People have fallen in love with our “press albums” (the product and the price!) but we’ve wanted to add a silver halide option in them as well. So we’ve thrown out the “press album” idea and replaced it with two new categories, Flushmount Albums and Overlay Matted albums, both of which offer you either digital offset OR silver halide at really great prices.
(More details below. Please note, Press Books, Duo and Musée remain the same - you can view all our updated product pages here.)
FLUSHMOUNT ALBUMS
A single unified range, now including a traditional photographic printing option at a great price. All available in sizes up to 15x12 (V and H), plus 18x10 and 18x12 printed silver halide only. All our cover choices. Optional extras: carry cases, display boxes and copy albums.
OVERLAY MATTED ALBUMS
Same deal: a single unified matted album range and a photographic printing option. Trimmed edge pages; overlay style mounting. Sizes up to 15x12 (V and H), plus 18x10 and 18x12 printed silver halide only. All our cover choices. Optional extras: carry cases, display boxes and copy albums.
CLASSIC MATTED ALBUMS
Traditional library bound matted albums, with edged and cornered pages; overlay or pagemount style presentation. Sizes up to 18x12. Optional extras: wing and flip pages, carry cases, display boxes and copy albums.
Consistency and choice:
• Flushmount, Overlay Matted, Classic Matted or Duo albums are all all available in the same cover materials and decorative motifs. And you can now order Copy Albums, Carry Cases and Display Boxes with them all.
• A new 10-inch copy album size (in addition to 5-inch and 7-inch).
• There is a small increase in copy album prices, but as there is no charge for extra pages or flips, effectively the price remains the same. And now you can order up to five of each size - a great way to stock up on display samples.
• Wings and flips and cut-ins are now the same price as standard pages - Classic and Duo only. Slight price increases on carry cases and display boxes.
• Due to changes in the market, we have had a few discontinued product options. Please visit our Knowledgebase article for the complete list.
• Click here to download our updated price lists.
We hope you're as excited about these changes as we are! Do stay in touch if you have any questions at all.

So essentially, 6-color Kodak Endura is no longer a print option for matted/flush because prices were lowered on silver halide?
One gripe about the online calculator, it has a "layouts" dropdown, whereas everything else is calling it "page (two sides)". Sort of confusing. I really miss calling a layout (two pages).

I was excited when I read "some pretty tasty price reductions" that I quickly downloaded the latest price list (September 2012). It what I have been waiting. But very disappointed when I found that in fact, prices have gone up. The contemporary Leathers, for example, has gone up $130!!! (from april 2012 price list). Can you tell me where are the "tasty price reductions" mentioned in the blog post?
Thanks

Hi Mary. We don't do copy albums for those smaller sizes now, but if you give me 24 hours I'll see what I can do. Sorry no promises as it's really a freight cost issue, but I'll fight the good fight on your behalf :-)

Hi Mary, It will take a few days to get all the systems updated but we are going to offer copy albums on 10x10 albums.
This might not be exactly what you want to here though, but we might need to adjust pricing in 6 months time though, or charge freight depending on how things work out. The margin is incredibly tight and we'll need to monitor.
Having said that, I think its very unlikely or I wouldn't be saying we could do it today. It's just the US Dollar and UK Pound very week and it puts addition pressure on it.
We do however thing the product combination makes a lot of sense so will work with you to make it work. Hope this is all ok? :-)

Hi Guys! Whilst I welcome the new updates what I am not happy about is the way to check pricing! In the good old days of Excel I could see all the related products in one spread sheet and make alternations to create my pricing policy. Now it is a very narrow view on one product at a time and having to make alterations to each product to get an overview! Hugely time consuming or am I doing something wrong? Also this is done online and I currently have limited broadband access! Can you please give us back the Excel spreadsheet - instant pricing and comparisons against other sizes and combinations! Sorry, a backward step in my opinion!! Please advise your policy on price calculations going forward as this is a big no no ... in my opinion Cheers!!

Thanks Stephen! We've lost quite a few copy sales due to that issue and would love it to be an option. Cheers! :)

David there haven't been any change to our cover prices. This sounds like an error. Can you be specific which album size and type you're reviewing? The price reductions effect the Silver Halide prices on Flush Mount Albums, Matted Overlay (20-30%), also Custom Embossing, Wings & Flips have reduced substantially.

Can you now order copy albums with every album size? That would be a dream come true!

Thanks Stephen. It was my mistake as I was comparing prices for New Zealand and for the US. All is good now. I edited my previous post so no one gets mislead by my mistake. Did the same in Facebook. Sorry about that. I owe you a beer.

Yes you can. That means for any size 12x12 and greater, there is also a 10 inch size :)

Our clients typically order 10x10 or 8x8 inch albums. Not really due to price, but because they prefer the size to the big 12x12. Can we now order copies for those sizes?
