SEARCH RESULTS FOR: design process
A while back, in a post about the problem reporter, Ian listed all the possible issues that might pop up in the problem reporter. Beyond alignment, the most common issue seems to be problems with images. The problem most users encounter is missing high res files. The next two are missing low res files, and HR and LR files that do not match. Both the last two problems have the same solution, which I'll talk about here. The Low Res files that Photojunction is referring to are the Low Res Proxies that are created when you import your images into your event. These files are what allow you to layout To View More >>
Last Friday NZT Stephen, Danny and Ian ran an impromptu webinar to introduce the Queensberry Press and demonstrate how to design the books. This excerpt concentrates on the "how-to". Much of the new functionality is behind the scenes (eg built-in colour management to convert the exported layouts to the printer colour space) but Danny concentrates on the process, especially how to specify the books and design the covers. Let's wrap up this Problem reporter series and stop ignoring the elephant in the room… Who needs a problem reporter anyway? After all, as we confirmed at the webinar it drives some people nuts. Well I'm glad you asked! I should start by saying it's not an unusual concept. Try googling "pre-flight", for example, and check out the Wikipedia and Adobe listings in particular. What the pre-flight process does in the printing industry is ensure that digital files sent for printing are all present, valid, correctly formatted, and of the desired type. Why? Because, if they're not, the job can't be done. To View More >>
.. that you are selling to? I read Ian's post yesterday and thought he had some really good points, but I wanted to add to the discussion by drilling down another layer to ask, "Who is the man you are selling to?" Here are a few possibilities and I am sure you are easily able to add more (so feel free to contribute your thoughts): 1 The besot - hopelessly in love and a cinch for a big album. 2 The control freak - Needs to believe that they have choices. The choices empower them and allow them to "own the outcome". 3 The accountant - The value of the album is a number: that value equates to a certain To View More >>
Each version of Photojunction takes us further towards a seamless workflow to design, export and upload your album orders to Queensberry - right first time and hassle-free. And it works amazingly. What we're still noticing however, is a small number of people using LabFTP to send, or re-send, their layouts to us. This is now built into Photojunction (including the ability to re-send "part-uploads" for whatever reason), so there's no longer any need to use LabFTP. Photojunction does it all. You can still see your upload progress, and pause and restart uploads just as in LabFTP. And the advantage To View More >>
