SEARCH RESULTS FOR: Budgeting
That picture is one of a small handful of photos from my wedding day that I actually like- and sadly it doesn't even feature my husband or me. Planning a wedding can be hard, and sticking to the budget even harder, but one of the most important lessons I learnt was: the cheap option isn't always the best option. My husband and I got married when we were very young and were given a budget from our parents that we had to work within. Sadly we made the decision to let the photography be one of the areas we skimped on and the results were devastating. All in all our photographer was a nice guy and To View More >>
Many years ago I headed to an up-market department store to buy a gift. When I asked the person behind the counter to show me what I wanted, she replied, “It’s expensive you know”. Was she suggesting that I couldn’t afford it, or was she reflecting on her own economic situation? She should have known better. I’m always reminded of it at trade shows when people look at our albums and say things like, “They're so beautiful, To View More >>
A thoughtful approach to designing and selling albums from Pennsylvania-based Angelique, of our support team. - Ed. There seem to be two primary approaches to album sales, three if you include not bothering (let's not go there). The first approach, popular recently, is Pre-Design. Well…because what you included in their contact was a 10x10 flush mount album with 20 sides. That hardly seems fair. To View More >>
This has been a big year for Queensberry. Especially the launch of Queensberry Press. New products, new services, new technology, new price points. The challenge is making it easy for you to get your head around. Why so many products? What’s the difference between them? How much do they cost? We came up with this Good Better Best matrix to map out what we do. Good Better Best is a strategy - having a range of products and services to tempt your clients across a range of price points. Good is your entry level – affordable if you like. Best is aspirational (expensive). Better is in the middle To View More >>
My two children are getting married, and In Part 1 I talked about how my eyes have been opened by the experience. What would my kids get if they hired a "professional photographer” for $3500.00 or so? Generally the photographer's time on the day, a DVD, no post work, often from someone who doesn't know how to give a "wedding day experience" on top of everything else. $3500 feels like too much money for that, but as I pointed out, the wholesale costs involved are too high to expect much more. Prices like that encourage couples to go shopping with unrealistically low budgets for photography … To View More >>
