Rebecca said it right! The more you replicate other photographers the more beige you become. Be inspired by the success of other photographers and influenced by their philosophies. Be colourful, but accept that some people see beige as a safe colour. Somebody asked me how do we stand out when our audience sees us as somehow all the same ... just dearer or cheaper (light beige and dark beige). I was watching a piece on TED about a guy called Daniel Libeskind ... his work is very left of centre and clearly not beige. Watch it and listen to his talk. Take note of his word sets, Emotional To View More >>
Having worked on the Photojunction help desk for the last six weeks I have had a very good chance to look more closely at this great piece of software. I have seen the problems people have with it. The problems fall into three categories ... The software, the user, the computer. The software is good. Actually it is really good. It's not perfect, but with every iteration it gets better, and if it was ever perfect the developers would be out of a job. It has weaknesses but they are outweighed by its strengths. It could never be perfect because it is constantly evolving to meet the needs of a changing To View More >>
I daren't start this blog with 'In my day ... things were different!' In my day 'We' were the difference ... we were the new generation biting at the heals of 'the old guard'. There was always going to be a new generation coming in to replace what we did. Several things happened in the wedding industry when I was starting up. Enter Generation 2.0, invigorated and empowered by the digital revolution. Camera makers have made it easier for our audience to be better aligned To View More >>
I'm heading back to New Zealand after four gigs for MPA and CPT. When I left home Jo (my wife) gave me two things (other than the advice to stay away from danger). She gave me an iPhone so that we could stay in touch ... my phone was in a bad way ... and she gave me a small box. Now you would have thought that a caring wife would have uploaded a set of images or a small video of her and our daughter to remind me of them in their absence ... this is the beauty of technology. No she didn't. She went 10 times better. She gave me a small box of prints of our family to take away. This low fi approach To View More >>
Jerry Tomko is a long time friend who comes to mind whenever we think of heavy Photojunction users. He designs and sells a huge number of albums each year and has been using the software for as long as we can remember. 1) What impact does Photojunction have on your album design workflow? Photojunction has had a huge impact on my album design workflow. I have always been a firm believer in predesign - and in wedding albums, and I truly believe you should be able to see what you are purchasing. Even back in the film days, I would always present to the client what the album would look like before To View More >>
